“I grew up fishing here in Wyoming and some of my first tackle was Eagle Claw,” Governor Gordon said. “Locating them in Wyoming is like a childhood dream come true. It’s yet another example of an outdoor recreation business recognizing Wyoming as a welcoming place for businesses in this industry.

The company plans to increase its manufacturing capabilities by building a state-of-the-art facility. The plant will take advantage of the latest technology to move processes overseas while providing highly skilled jobs to the Cheyenne community.

Cheyenne LEADS began working with Wright & McGill in March 2020. Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Drew McGill, made several trips to Wyoming before choosing the exact manufacturing site located in the Cheyenne Business Parkway.

The company has a long-standing relationship with Wyoming, with the founder having fished several times on the North Platte River. The company has held annual sales meetings at the A Bar A ranch near Encampment, Wyoming. The current owner of the company, Lee McGill, grew up fishing and working these events in Wyoming. When the time came for the business to expand, Mr. McGill turned to his son Drew McGill to find a good location for the business. While proximity to Denver was important, no state was left out of the process. After more than five years of research and site visits, Wyoming made the most sense for the business.

Wright and McGill chose Cheyenne because of its strategic location from its current manufacturing facility in Denver, CO. They also see great opportunities to get involved and contribute to the community. “As a family business, we value the independent, friendly and family culture we have experienced in Cheyenne, both for ourselves and for future generations of our family and employees,” said Drew.

“We appreciate that LEADS has been responsive and helpful from day one. They introduced us to the community. They answered many questions and put us in touch with the resources needed to make this move, ”said Drew McGill. “Cheyenne LEADS supported us by welcoming our key employees and offering them information tours, which helped them feel comfortable with the move, while also helping us find the perfect location for our new installation. “

“This Wright & McGill move will continue to diversify Wyoming’s economy with high quality manufacturing jobs,” said Betsey Hale, CEO of Cheyenne LEADS. “We look forward to having them in our business park and working with them in the future. “

They plan to start construction on their new facility in spring 2023.

About the Wright & McGill Co.

Wright & McGill Co. has a rich history stretching back over 90 years and began when two young anglers Drew McGill and Stan Wright formed the Wright & McGill Co. in 1925. The innovative hook company that is now Eagle Claw started when McGill was spending time doing what he loved most, fly fishing up the Colorado River and saw two great eagles melt and catch fish with their big talons. This moment inspired the design of the eagle claw hooks. Today, Eagle Claw is considered the most innovative hook company in the world and is the only hook manufacturer in the United States.

The company manufactures and distributes premium hooks, fishing rods, reels, terminal equipment and ice fishing products in the United States and in more than 40 countries around the world. It proudly dresses the fishermen of the Eagle Claw, Lazer Sharp, TroKar and Wright & McGill brands. Eagle Claw is proud to continue its tradition and bring an additional manufacturing facility to Wyoming.
