Spinning from the beach or from a boat using dedicated spinning rods is one of the most exhilarating methods of targeting bass and other predatory fish. Spinning rods are usually between 9ft and 12ft in length and typically resemble a freshwater style rod, ultra slim and designed to cast a very light weight. When looking at our range of spinning rods, choose a length that best suits you. Many anglers prefer shorter spinning rods and it is now very common to find anglers using spinning rods as short as 6ft. These type of short spinning rods however are better suited to the experienced angler as short spinning rods can be a lot less forgiving when casting and retrieving, particularly when large fish are involved.

As a beginner or casual angler looking to spin from the beach, a rod of between 9 and 12ft is ideal. If you intend to spin from a boat it might not be practical to cast a 12ft spinning rod safely, in which case a shorter length rod might be more suitable for you. Spinning rods are not only available in different rod lengths, they are also available with different casting weights too. Ranging from as low as 10 grams, spinning rods are also available with casting weights up to and over 50 grams. Spinning rods better suited to the beginner or casual angler should have a wide casting weight range, this will allow you to swap between different weight lures and spinners and find out which one works the best, so make sure you have plenty of lures and spinners to choose from. As you become a more experienced angler casting weight tolerances can be increased or decreased to suit your needs. You may end up owning a number of different spinning rods designed to cast specific weight lures, this will hugely increase your catch rate by allowing you to suit your spinning rod and lure to a particular fishing situation or need.
