Grip leads are best used on a flat sandy sea bed where minimal snags can be found. Designed for close to medium range fishing and boat fishing, the grip lead hugs the sea bed by means of its bumpy surface. Unlike a gripper lead or weight, the grip lead is free to drift along the sea bed with the tide. This can be a very productive way to fish for all manor of flatfish, as the grip lead drifts with the tide, it's likely to be pushed along with other food items into gullies and other areas creating feeding hot spots.
Try using a grip lead on a three hook flapper when fishing a sandy venue.
