About Us

'AB Fishing Tackle' is based in West Sussex and is owned and run by Philip and David Dominy. Sea fishing started for us both at the ages of 10 and 12 when we received, out of the blue, our very first beach casters. Two piece rods made from fibreglass with an aluminium butt. I remember mine was brown and David's was blue. I also remember having difficulty casting and having to let Dad intervene. It was always an exciting time when we went fishing. The 5 layers of clothes, the crunch of shingle under foot and not forgetting the unmistakable smell of pilchard oil that still to this very day brings back memories of fishing at Princes Parade along the South East coast. I guess we were extremely lucky looking back, living literally a stones throw from the sea. There were not many if any lads at our school that would wake up in the morning and look out of the window to see the sea, and boy did we make use of it! I don't have many memories of playing in the park with friends until 9 or 10pm at night, instead we were always scavenging along the beach front looking for any discarded bait and talking to local fishermen.

After leaving the family home David and I each pursued very different careers. David in the field of Electronics Engineering where he attended Brighton University and left with a Batchelor of Engineering and a Master of Engineering degree and myself in the Health and Fitness industry where I qualified as a Personal Trainer to later work in Brighton as Sports Nutrition Adviser for a large mail order sports supplement company.

In 2003 both of us were in full time employment and looking for a change. We decided to turn our acquired skills to something new. With our combined knowledge (David now extremely computer literate and I with a good understanding of all things mail order) we proceeded to launch Airsport Direct Ltd and our very first e-commerce website was born. In 2005 with Airsport Direct now hugely successful we decided to launch a second e-commerce enterprise where today AB Fishing Tackle offers a one stop shop for everything sea angling.
